How to Dial Out From Your Desk Phone

Pick up the handset.

After lifting the handset, press 6 to access an outside line.

You should hear a dial tone indicating you can now place your call.

Enter the full phone number of the person or business you are trying to reach.

You will hear ringing or automated instructions.

If the call does not connect, recheck the number and try again.

Troubleshooting and Tips

No dial tone?
Ensure the handset is properly seated or try another audio method (speaker/headset).

Call won’t connect?
Recheck the number format (local, long distance, international).

Repeated failures?
If you experience repeated issues when attempting to dial out from your desk phone, please submit a Helpdesk ticket to IT. This will allow us to verify that your phone is properly configured for long-distance or international calling.
